Case Study #2 - Sandi
Sandi supervises an office of five auditors. She has noticed that some of the office supplies seem to be getting used too quickly and decides to review the office supply orders and inventory. As she suspected, the supplies have been ordered in sufficient quantities, but it is obvious that someone has been stealing the supplies.
Sandi begins her own investigation and asks around to see if anyone can explain the losses. An employee tells her that she has seen Emily taking pencils, pads and tape and putting them in a shopping bag. She is certain that Emily has been taking the bag home.
On Thursday afternoon, Sandi hand delivers a memo to Emily asking her to attend a meeting in Sandi's office the next morning at 10 AM. The memo states that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss "work related matters including supplies inventory."
Emily comes to you in a state of panic. She is afraid that she is in trouble for something and she does not want to attend the meeting the next morning.
