Key Strategies

labor/management meetingUsing Labor/Management meetings to the members’ advantage relies on a few key strategies:

  • Be prepared for every meeting.
  • Always use some form of record-keeping to keep track of what is said in the meeting.
  • Don’t commit to decisions that management offers without consulting the people you represent.
  • Be assertive: speak up and let management know what’s on the mind of the union.
  • Be positive, and be prepared to negotiate for everything. Anger, frustration, or vindictiveness never contributes to solving problems.
